Cancellations & Restrictions

Federal Licence/Passport Denial

If the payor is more than $3000 in arrears we can notify the federal government to refuse to issue or suspend the payor’s passport, federal aviation or marine licences.

The denial stays in place:

  • as long as the maintenance order or agreement is enrolled with the FMEP,
  • until the payor arranges to pay the arrears, or
  • we decide to withdraw the denial based on a review of the payor’s circumstances.

Driver’s Licence Cancellation

We can instruct ICBC to refuse to issue a new licence to the payor or cancel his or her current licence if the payor is more than $3000 in arrears.

The cancellation stays in place:

  • as long as the maintenance order or agreement is enrolled with FMEP,
  • until the payor makes an arrangement to pay the arrears, or
  • we decide to withdraw the action based on a review the case.

Motor Vehicle Licence Restriction

We can also instruct ICBC to refuse to issue or renew the annual licence for a motor vehicle or trailer the payor owns. Without a vehicle licence, the payor can’t purchase vehicle insurance.

The restriction stays in place:

  • as long as the maintenance order or agreement is enrolled with FMEP,
  • until the payor makes arrangements to pay the arrears, or
  • we withdraw the action based on a review the case.
